Maybe my true question should be: was the US ever a real democracy? Maybe an oligarchy would be more appropriate. And is it really freedom of the press if the press is owned by the elites in this oligarchy?

There is a lot to deconstruct about the US political system, but I feel that they might have been selling us an illusion of democracy all along.
