Dear Vena, I can totally relate to your experience. I know how traumatic and emotionally challenging these experiences can be. I don’t know how many times I have avoided situations where I knew my color would put me in grave danger. When my children were younger, I worried I would be put in racist situations where I couldn’t protect them. Being a black woman is a daily challenge, and sometimes very hard, but honestly, I wouldn’t exchange my color for the world. So society had better accept me/ us as we are.
